ChessCounter
ChessCounter teaches popular chess openings through guided, move-by-move lessons. Pick an opening, choose to attack or defend (or play either side of an opening system), and follow the arrows drawn on the board for every move you need to make. Each move you play is scored against the taught line, chess.com-style (Brilliant, Great, Best, Excellent, Good, Book, Inaccuracy, Mistake, Miss, Blunder), and the first move off the script ends the lesson right there, so you always know exactly where the line left you.
ChessCounter includes:
- Guided opening lessons for 13 openings and traps, each one teachable from both White and Black, with several named variants per opening to drill.
- Free play: a full unscripted game against a built-in chess engine.
- Play in person: pass-and-play on a single device, no engine, board orientation flips automatically after every move.
- Identify the opening: watch a random opening unfold and name it as fast as you can from a set of candidates, then, for the two traps, play out the actual refutation.
- Points and a day streak that track your progress across every mode.
- Light and dark themes, and a choice of piece art sets.
Nothing ever leaves your device
ChessCounter has no account, no cloud and no server component of any kind: it makes no network requests at all. Your preferences, your lesson progress and your points/streak are stored locally on your device and are never seen by anyone else.
